This study is aimed to compare two treatment modalities in term of decreasing depression

Symptoms in divorced women in city of Tehran.

It is an experimental study .the Beck Depression Test was done in divorced women with depression symptoms, then they were randomly assigned to 2 groups, one group received only pharmacologic

Agents and the other group received both medication and cognitive therapy.

Independent t –test was done, and data was analyzed with SPSS software .

The mean score of Depression prior to treatment between two groups has no significant difference

After treatment with medication only, no statistically significant changes observed in mean score of depression in control group

In mix pharmaco –cognitive treatment group mean score of depression was statistically significant after treatment

Based on this study ,it seems that pharmacotherapy alone has not satisfactory result for treatment of these group of patients and effect of combined therapy with medication and cognitive modalities should be considered in divorced women with depression .
