Patients safety in operation room is one of the most important issues. Cutaneous bums during operation is the cause of many complaints from the health staffs and it leads to legal following due to not be expected and associated problems. Recently it has been found other reasons for this happen except the problems in cautery equipments. Which needs to evaluate the causes and find the ways of prevention.
Matrial and Methods:
In this study 12 documents of military boards of Isfahan forensic medicine center was assessed from 2007 to 2013 and the data were gathered based on the difined variables.
Results:
Most of the burnings was on back and the upper limbs with the type of third degree. Almost the half of them was due to cauter burning and the rest induced by chemicals such as Betadine and H2O2- some of them made by pressure ulcers resulted from prolonyed surgeries.
Conclusion:
In addition to the technical considerations of medical equipments in operation rooms, it is necessary to control the disinfectants quality and avoiding their skin contact for along time during the surgery.
