Self-medication is an important part of peoples’ medical behavior. In light of Theincreassy prevalence rates of self-medication this study aimed to survey the prevalence of self-medicationAmongswomenwe consider it necessary to study self-medication status in women referring to health centers inBandarabbas city.
Materials and Methods:400 women in this descriptive-analysis study in BandarAbbas city. Data was collected by self-designedquestionnaire. The obtained data were analyzed in SPSS
Results:The prevalence of self-medication in students was more than(%79/5).Some reasons for seeking self-medication included Previous illness experience(%36)and feeling not important of illness(%35/8)the most common drug was palliatives(%38/8),tab cold(%22/8) and the most common disease Includingcold(%42/8),headache(%40/5),menstruation disorder(%23/2)and anemia (%15/8).
Conclusion:The prevalence of self-medication among the women was very high and a programfor changing the attitude and the habits of womenwith regard to self medication is highlyrecommended.
